German Sustainability Award: Tchibo is a two-time finalist

Hamburg,

Tchibo is once again one of the finalists for this year's German Sustainability Award (DNP). The Hanseatic family business was selected as a finalist in two categories: Consumer Goods Retail and Textile Retail.

The German Sustainability Award is recognised as the largest award for ecological and social commitment in Europe. It recognises companies that make a successful and exemplary contribution to the transformation of the economy and society. The finalists were selected by a jury of around 240 experts as part of a two-stage process.

Tchibo has been impressing customers with its comprehensive commitment to sustainability for almost 20 years. The focus is on sustainable materials, the circular economy and socially responsible supply chains. For example, Tchibo uses 100% sustainable cotton, cellulose fibres and wool, and over 80% of all wood and paper products bear the FSC® seal. In addition, recycled fibres are used in various product categories and conventional cashmere is excluded.

With the refurbished model for fully automatic coffee machines, the Hamburg-based company extends the service life of its appliances and saves resources, while the Tchibo coffee programme currently supports more than 13,000 farmers in nine countries of origin. This commitment is complemented by ambitious climate targets validated by the Science Based Targets Initiative and the WE human rights programme, which promotes fair working conditions and respect for human rights along the supply chain.

Johanna von Stechow, Director Corporate Responsibility at Tchibo, explains: "We are delighted to once again be among the finalists for the German Sustainability Award. This award encourages us on our path. Since 2006, we have been working on firmly anchoring sustainability in our actions. By consciously selecting materials and developing durable, recyclable and repairable products, we want to protect people and nature in our supply chains - and enable our customers to have a more sustainable everyday life."

The winners of the German Sustainability Award 2025 will be honoured in Düsseldorf in December.
