Coffee

Partners

Making the transition toward greater responsibility in coffee is a huge undertaking. As a company, we can only initiate changes selectively in our supply chains and growing regions through our programs. Therefore, we seek allies and advocate for political and cross-sectoral discourse. We also support cross-sector programs and initiatives.

With our own programs, it's important to us not to go it alone, but to develop them together with partners and scale them up in the future. We would also be happy if others joined us, thus accelerating the change in coffee cultivation.

Partner programs

As part of the Tchibo Coffee Program, we develop programs specifically tailored to local needs, always in collaboration with the farmers. Furthermore, Tchibo is also a member of various initiatives in which we operate additional partner programs in collaboration with other companies and organizations. Here, we work with strong partners – such as the International Coffee Partners (ICP) and the organizations behind the seal certifications. Through these partner programs, we currently reach over 3,000 farms in several countries – including Indonesia, Uganda, and Ethiopia.

We are committed to three areas:

Max and Ingeburg Herz Foundation

The Max and Ingeburg Herz Foundation funds various projects in Ethiopia and Uganda. All with the goal of improving the living conditions and income of smallholder coffee farmers in the long term. This is achieved with the help of the HereWeGrow organization and local partners. True to the motto "Go, talk, do," the foundation continuously works on local challenges. The projects help farmers in Ethiopia and Uganda with training, direct financial support, and investments in necessary infrastructure. To ensure structural change in the sector, the organization is active at the national and international levels.

Certifications

In addition to our own programs and our direct collaboration with farmers, we also rely on seals and certifications for some of our coffees:

Cooperations and Co-Finance

Achieving more together: Tchibo already invests significant resources in sustainable coffee programs to support coffee farmers in the countries of origin. However, to reach even more farmers and achieve a greater impact, more cross-cutting initiatives are needed. Because: If we work together, we can achieve more! This means: To achieve our goals, we need strong partners who can contribute to our success story – who, together with us, will make a difference in the world!

Tchibo is open to working with all types of partners. And: We're not just interested in raising funding or implementing projects, but also in sharing information, learning, and insights. Learning from and with each other, sharing experiences… these are also part of collaboration.
