A frothing dream or just hot air? The new induction milk frother in an everyday check

Attention coffee lovers! Perfect milk froth at the touch of a button, even with oat milk & co. and easy cleaning - sounds almost too good to be true, doesn't it? That's exactly what the new induction milk frother from Tchibo promises. When I discovered it, my curiosity was immediately aroused and I simply had to test it for you. My everyday check reveals whether the compact kitchen helper really delivers what it promises and has what it takes to become your new favourite gadget.

Unpack, plug in, start foaming: the basics

The first surprise when unpacking: the model is surprisingly slim and compact - compared to other induction milk frothers, which often have a certain "clunkiness" due to the technology built into the base. Especially for a rather small kitchen like mine, this minimalist design is worth gold, as it blends in beautifully without cluttering up the valuable work surface. The positive impression, reduced to the essentials, continues seamlessly during operation, as it is often the assembly that decides whether you learn to love or hate an appliance. Fortunately, with this milk frother, the matter quickly becomes clear: the design is intuitive through and through. It has been designed without any frills and focusses on the essentials. The entire operating concept is reduced to two buttons: an on/off switch and an arrow button to switch through the programmes. There is no need to familiarise yourself with complex menu navigation or decipher cryptic symbols. This plug-and-play principle makes it incredibly easy to use. In addition, the milk frother does not need to preheat thanks to induction, which means it is really ready to go from the moment the plug is inserted into the socket.

The crucial question: What about oat milk & co.

The big question for many of us is, of course, what about milk alternatives? This is where the wheat is often separated from the chaff when it comes to milk frothers, and for me as a regular oat milk drinker, this was an absolute knock-out criterion. So I did the practical test and entered my two current favourites into the race: an oat milk and a pea milk (important: ALWAYS use a barista edition!). I was really pleasantly surprised by the result. Although the foam is naturally a little lighter and airier than with cow's milk, it was surprisingly stable and creamy with both variants and didn't collapse again. The result is a nice, homogeneous foam that is perfect for my cappuccino. So for anyone who favours plant-based milk alternatives, this is definitely a green light.

Speaking of milk alternatives: If you're now wondering why barista editions in particular are so important and what the secrets behind the perfect froth are, I have another listening tip for you. In our podcast episode on the "Art of Milk Foaming", barista Indre and speaker Karina explain exactly that and reveal which milk is best suited for latte art. Listen directly to the episode here.

More than just foam: an all-round talent for connoisseurs

As someone who loves variety when it comes to drinks, I naturally didn't just stick to just frothing milk for my coffee for long. That's why I was particularly excited about another feature of the appliance: the integrated cocoa function. And it really is super simple. You simply pour the cold milk and cocoa powder directly into the jug and the appliance does the rest. It stirs and heats at the same time, resulting in a perfectly creamy, hot cocoa without any lumps. Especially now in the run-up to Christmas, this is an absolute highlight for cosy evenings. I can also well imagine that it is a real game changer, especially for families with children, to quickly and easily conjure up a delicious cocoa. But that's not all. In my tests, I quickly realised that the functions are even more versatile ...

My personal tip:

The function is also ideal for preparing matcha lattes. The fine matcha powder dissolves just as wonderfully as the cocoa powder. And if, like me, you also love cold drinks, you'll also get your money's worth. The cold milk froth function is perfect for creating a creamy froth for an iced matcha latte.

The highlight at the end: cheers to the removable jug!

Let's move on to a feature that is an absolute highlight for me: the separate milk jug. It may sound like a small thing, but it makes a huge difference to me. Firstly, it allows much more precise pouring. So I was finally able to try my first, admittedly still somewhat bumpy, latte art attempts without spilling half the cup. But the second point is much more important to me: cleaning. Who hasn't experienced the constant worry of not getting any electronics wet when washing up? Now I can simply put the jug in the dishwasher. But it's also much easier to clean by hand in the sink, as you no longer have to worry about the technology underneath. For me, this is a real blessing in everyday kitchen life.

My conclusion

The new induction milk frother not only met my expectations, it exceeded them. It is fast, uncomplicated, produces great froth (even from milk alternatives!) and is simply practical thanks to the removable jug. The additional functions for cocoa, pure heating and cold frothing make it a real all-rounder that I wouldn't want to be without in my kitchen. So the answer to my initial question is clear: definitely a frothing dream!
