5 Cups a Day
Coffee knowledge to go

#125 Creativity booster and pleasure bringer - coffee as a superpower. Facts from the Coffee Report 2025

Finally, facts and figures again, or in our case: coffee consumption, coffee habits, coffee preferences - we have plenty of hot facts about our favourite drink in the new episode of "5 cups a day" coffee knowledge to go.

From the question of how many cups it takes to be creative to exciting price differences across Europe. The new episode will be inspiring in the cup - that's a promise! Because the Tchibo Coffee Report 2025 focuses on the exciting topic of "creativity". A little spoiler: 63% of Germans believe that the world would be less imaginative and courageous without coffee! Incidentally, we also clarify what the question "Are you still coming up for a coffee?" - and of course the answer to it, and why some people prefer to do without latte art.

The eagerly awaited answers can be found in this year's coffee report, with all the important facts, figures and data about our favourite bean. Together with Brand eins and Statista, we asked German coffee drinkers how much creativity is allowed when it comes to coffee and, more importantly, does coffee provide flashes of inspiration?

Karina Schneider, Tchibo Coffee Sprecherin

Dichter, Denker, doppelter Espresso

Maraike Kahlstorf, Communication Managerin

How much coffee do Germans need to get creative or are they creative enough "without a bean"? Perhaps coffee also tastes better abroad: where does a cappuccino cost the most and the least in Europe? These and other questions are answered in the new episode of "5 Cups a Day" Coffee Knowledge to Go.

In this episode, Tchibo Coffee spokesperson Karina Schneider and Communication Manager Maraike Kahlstorf take you into the creative world of coffee and share the most exciting discoveries relating to this year's focus topic of "Creativity". Of course with exciting "insights" into how much coffee the two of them actually need to work creatively...

Better with a bean than without

"I'm not very creative when it comes to the drink itself: it is and remains my beloved espresso. But I happily change the beans and let my creativity run free. Recommendation for the filter coffee machine? Nothing there, I press the beans through my portafilter machine and perhaps get completely new flavours in the form of my espresso!" Karina Schneider, Tchibo Coffee spokesperson

Like Karina, 26% of Germans prefer to drink espresso regularly. Filter coffee is in the lead with 51%. Cappuccino follows in second place with 38% and latte macchiato in third place with 31%. In the new episode, we also find out how many of those surveyed would be so creative as to try a hot drink in the trendy Dubai style.

Poets, thinkers, double espresso

"I only really get going in the morning when I've had at least 1-2 cups of coffee. There's not much I can do before that - at least that's what I tell myself!" Maraike Kahlstorf, Communication Manager

The same goes for 53% of those surveyed in the coffee report, who stated that they need 1-2 cups of coffee to awaken their creative genius.

Karina and Maraike also agree with the majority of respondents that tipping coffee away is a real shame - even if there is sometimes no other option, for example if it has become too cold (50%). But 37% are very annoyed about it, they would have preferred to enjoy the coffee.

This shows, as does the new episode of Kaffeewissen to go, that coffee is valuable, not only as a creativity booster and stimulant, but also as a daily ritual and valued constant.
