Springtime Vibes, Focaccia, and Coffee Creations
Easter is behind us, the days are finally getting brighter, and there was already a hint of spring in the air at our digital TchiboCard Community Event. Together with our community members, we stirred, frothing, tasted, and marveled. Amid creative recipes and plenty of coffee, the evening at Pickhuben was all about enjoyment and inspiration, and the anticipation for Easter was still high.
Tanja guided us through the evening and took the community on a varied journey: from the creation of the new Easter mug to sophisticated coffee recipes and the lovingly baked focaccia creations from the community! The welcome was warm, and familiar and new faces from the community gradually filled the screen.
From the idea to the Easter table
A special highlight of the evening was the glimpse into the design process behind the new kitchen and home decor collection “Spring on the Table.” Charlotte from the design team joined us as a guest and took the community behind the scenes of her work in the non-food division. Among other things, she is responsible for designs for mugs, bowls, bedding, and towels.
At Tchibo, the design process often still begins the traditional way – by hand. Hand-painted watercolor sketches formed the basis for the new Easter mug. These evolved into floral patterns in fresh, trendy colors that are perfect for spring and Easter. The sketches are then scanned and digitally refined before they make their way onto tableware or textiles. It often takes about a year from the initial idea to the finished product at the point of sale.
The community particularly enjoyed the direct exchange with Charlotte. It became clear just how valuable feedback, requests, and even constructive criticism from the community are for the development of new products. Especially at Easter, when decorations and beautiful tableware play a special role on the set table, this look behind the scenes was a real spring highlight.
Pretty in Pink: The Pink Latte
After the design talk, it was time to serve up a treat: Together, we made a pink latte that not only looked perfect for spring but also tasted great.
The ingredients included milk foam, beetroot, and vanilla. Even though many of the participants were skeptical about the beetroot in the drink, everyone ended up enjoying it. For the coffee, we used an espresso from the Easter special “Buramba Rwanda.” The group also shared fascinating background information, such as details about coffee cultivation and the role of women in local coffee farming.
The Pink Latte was prepared using the induction milk frother, which community members had already received as a gift. This allowed everyone to join in live. Step by step, a drink took shape that instantly brought a touch of spring to the glass: warm, pink milk foam, strong espresso, and strawberries as a topping.
A Savory Treat: Focaccia and Espresso Dip
What would a successful event be without something to snack on? Perfect for an Easter brunch or as a springtime snack, a savory recipe was a must: an espresso dip for focaccia. The bread had already been baked with care at home, and the community’s creations were then showcased during the livestream. Baked with love, artfully decorated, and almost too beautiful to cut into: the focaccia loaves perfectly complemented the spring and Easter spirit of the evening.
To go with it, a dip made from sophisticated ingredients: 20 ml espresso, 200 g cream cheese, 1 tsp honey, 1–2 tbsp tomato paste, paprika, salt, and pepper. A combination that piques curiosity and was a hit for exactly that reason. The espresso adds a special depth to the dip and provides a surprising, spicy note.
Refreshing and surprising: Latte with mint syrup
After the pink latte, we moved right on to the next coffee creation. This time, we made a latte with mint syrup. The combination of espresso and a fresh hint of mint added a whole new twist to the coffee glass. Perfect, then, for anyone looking to serve something new this Easter.
In between, some fascinating insights, and to top it all off: a cocktail with egg liqueur and espresso
In between, Maria from the Coffee Accessories division (PSC) shared exciting insights into the new induction milk frother and its features. The community was particularly interested in how new ideas for features like the cocoa button come about and what considerations go into product development.
To wrap up the evening, a cocktail was mixed with egg liqueur and espresso. After all, if Easter had a flavor, egg liqueur would certainly be right up there. Creamy, rich, and wonderfully festive, this combination brought the event to a close.
